Job Description

In order to be successful in this role, a CTO needs to:
  • Visualize product with available resources and assets
  • Build, manager and validate Tech Roadmap for its Product
  • Make sure best practices are defined and followed by the Team
  • Build progressive learning culture and establish predictable model of developing, envisioning, designing product
  • Connect Business requirements with activity
  • Innovate product through research and continuous improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sets the tone, best practices, strategy for technical operations
  • be that coding, architecture, scaling
  • Makes the final tech decisions, on the best advice of the best engineers
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Help departments use technology profitably
  • Handles hiring, firing, recruiting, job assignments
  • Builds team morale, helps keep people happy, motivated, fit, fed, trained, and focused - basically a surrogate parent (or life coach, or innkeeper) for the engineers
  • Advocates for the technical team and technology base before the CEO, board, sales department, product design / management.
  • Assists CEO with fundraising and strategy, Director of Product with feature road mapping, the Business development with sales, and the CLO with defining the company's legal strategy - basically the voice of the technology
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
  • Gets stuff done
  • Gives the company strength, credibility

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational abilities
  • Strategic thinking
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
  • Proven prior experience working in Start-ups
