Job Description

This position will be reporting to a Managing Director – Expatriate. The main responsibilities show below :

Buying of existing and new products

  • Specify market requirements for current and future products and consumer buying patterns through market research

  • Define and execute an effective buying brief for each product category that delivers range cohesion and drives the agreed sales and margin whilst reflecting market forces such as pricing and consumer trends

  • Ensure buying process is timely, effective and commercially sound.

  • Gather information and feedback from on customers’ reactions to products

  • Ensure that sourcing of new product meet the needs of the defined range architecture timely.

  • Develop effective communication mechanisms to ensure that new product development launches on time as planned and to agreed specifications.

  • Ensure that all the trade terms with suppliers are in line with overall margin, service and quality targets.

  • Analysing previous season’s sales and reporting on the current season’s lines.

  • Ensure that across the product offer each ranges are significant enough not to cause cannibalisation of sales from other ranges.

  • Ensure that the products listed provides inspiration for our Customers and retail team and that the selected ranges support the company brand essence.

  • To provide direction and brand requirements to Sourcing and product development team that enable them to develop new products that meets future trends and brand positioning.

Category Management and Merchandising

  • Define and ‘own’ the overall ranging strategy ensuring that through effective range control process and price architecture, the product selected is in line with consumer trends and in line with sales and margins targets.

  • Review and develop margin mechanics such that the range and pricing architectures of brand and Proprietary brands deliver the desired percentage and cash margins KPIs.

  • Develop effective Promotion strategy ( Sales Plan ) that stimulate buying and offer perception of “ good value for money ” and ensuring that all events are properly planned, meeting KPIs and properly analysed.

  • Ensure that any change in product range include new product launches, clearance activity, overstocks are executed with careful planning and liaison with Stores, Marketing, Supply Chain ensuring that any information is distributed in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that product and range performance is monitored and Category team takes appropriate action to ensure the identification and agreement on action plans to deal with “ best and worst ” sellers in order to optimise performance and availability.

  • Involve in the stores layout plans to ensure space utilization efficiency.

  • Planning budgets, presenting sales & margin forecasts and plans to maximizing returns on investment.

  • Ensure that all healthcare products sold meet relevant regulations.

Supply & Quality control

  • Partner with Supply Chain team to ensure effective control, management and joined process of inbound and outbound stock movement, agreeing stock forecasts and work jointly with Suppliers to resolve supply chain issues and managing stock levels to meet the stock KPIs

  • Ensure commitment levels placed on stock lines are consistent with the range and promotional objectives.

  • Controlling stock levels based on the forecasts for the season.

  • Consistently monitoring slow sellers, and taking actions to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary. Write offs are to be managed to the minimum.

  • Ensure that effective quality control becomes embedded in the buying and supply chain processes to optimise product quality and legal compliance.

  • Develop and enforce mechanism for managing quality problems with products in the marketplace.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher, Master or oversea graduated will definitely be an advantage

  • A minimum of 10 year of buying experience including development of product from concept to market with at least 5 years of experience in a managerial position.

  • Strong knowledge of different aspects of retail management

  • Proven track record of managing trading margins, maximizing financial yields and stock management.

  • Proven ability to manage people and complex processes and prioritize tasks

  • High proficient in analyzing retail data and information in managing the business, developing buying strategy and budgeting.

  • Able to travel within the country

  • Enjoy visiting retail stores and keeping oneself up-to-date with market trends

  • Good command in English

  • Strong leadership skills
