Job Description

  • Understand the strategic goals of the organization and how purchasing/supplier quality function will help achieve those goals. Translate these goals into purchasing/supplier quality strategies, road maps, and annual business operating plans, and setting of operational KPI’s and improvement targets.
  • Plan, direct and control the supplier activities of the organization to maximize the quality and reliability of direct materials and indirect goods and services supplied. Maintain overall good supplier performance to the business operation that aligns with business objectives/targets.
  • Accountable for managing the purchasing and supplier quality team including responsibility for leadership, motivation, training and development needs, and the maximization of productivity. Manage and lead staff. Establish lines of control and delegation. Monitor and evaluate performance of subordinates.
  • Develop and maintain strategic & beneficial supplier relations especially on all key commodities.
  • Establish and approve sources of raw material and finished product supplies, receive quotations and secure bids locally via a transparent competitive bidding process.
  • Undertake the negotiation of purchase contracts.
  • Competitive benchmark bidding of all commodities (direct and indirect materials/services) on a regular basis. Implement corrective action plans/supplier negotiations to close any price/performance gaps.
  • Maintain a program to constantly investigate and review alternate sources of supply for all direct materials and indirect goods and services To reduce cost and improve quality, delivery and/or technology..
  • Monitor, review and report monthly to CBTH/GM and corporate purchasing on the performance of the department and to KPI’s
  • Document with supporting evidence all purchasing/sourcing decisions.
  • Source all new purchase products in accordance with business case provisions, from RFQ process, prototype, production tooling, and start of production in accordance with APQP requirements and program requirements (cost/quality/timing)
  • Prepare purchasing business cases for sales/finance department in a timely manner. Maintain a fast quote process for all key components/commodities.
  • Adopt and lead the implementation of corporate policy in the department at all times.
  • Recommend purchasing policy and determine procedures within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support production, engineering and other departments in bidding/tenure process for new and/or modifications to equipment, product specifications and delivery dates.
  • Liaise with corporate purchasing & other functions as appropriate on purchasing performance metrics, and economic data related to materials and supplies.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with relevant acts, legal demands and are of the highest ethical standards.
  • To lead a localization program for cost reduction and/or to meet local content requirements.
  • Maintain an annual supplier quality improvement program for year on year improvement and to meet corporate or internal quality targets.
  • For all supplier quality related matters, ensure incidents are responded to by the supplier in a timely manner in accordance with operation requirements and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • University graduate with at least 8-10 years of progressive purchasing experience preferable with multinational manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive background in sourcing, negotiation, supplier quality, with a working knowledge of operations. Experience in castings, friction, metal components, steel and rubber desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and with senior supplier management.
  • Excellent negotiate skills
  • Strong presentation skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment; as well as in order to deal with sensitive issues or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
  • Hands-on, fast-paced and dynamic and demonstrate ability to perform at both the strategic and tactical levels in order to positively impact the organization.
  • Posses strong sense of entrepreneurship, and leadership
  • Self-driven, target oriented, and good commonsense
  • Good communication in written and spoken English.
  • Preferably experience working for a western manufacturing organization plus automotive background.
