Manages technical training consultants who teach training courses and provide customized technical services at company training centers, user sites and third-party sites. Participates in departmental planning and policy decisions.
Manages and oversees staff work assignments; sets priorities, monitors performance and provides feedback. Identifies employee development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained. Handles administrative duties related to managing employees, including hiring, training, reviewing performance, giving feedback, delegating work assignments, and communicating department and company goals.
Works with sales staff to identify leads; participates on sales calls to target appropriate services for new and existing customers; helps identify the most qualified staff to provide services and to monitor and increase student registrations in public classes.
Contributes to the development and delivery of annual strategic business plan.
Accountable for the performance and day-to-day operations of functional area and/or regional office. Represents region and/or functional group in management meetings.
Provides input to the scheduling process for staff and training events.
Works with Human Resources to insure employees follow proper procedures as outlined by company policies, as well as identify and resolve staff related issues
Works with the expense and travel departments to insure employees follow proper procedures when travelling and monitor and approve travel expenses
May develop and teach training courses and modules, and/or provide consulting services at customer sites.
May serve as curriculum team lead for course curricula.
May develop applications or write programs to accomplish management tasks.
May manage the development and presentation of technical workshops and demonstrations at training centers and at customer sites.
May research and identify new third-party training centers to schedule and run SAS training classes.
May review and sign contracts for third-party training facilities.
May supervise one or more company owned and/or third party training centers including purchasing of supplies and catering, staff management, hardware procurement, general maintenance and problem identification and resolution.
May work with other divisions to insure regional office operations are functioning properly to serve customers and employees efficiently during normal working hours as well as during holidays, weekends and inclement weather days.
Functional knowledge of SAS software products and solutions, with a focus on one or more product or solution areas
Excellent presentation and writing skills, including the ability to communicate with people with various technical backgrounds
Strong SAS programming skills
Ability to train and mentor team members
Ability to travel
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum five years of current (within last six years) experience programming in a language, such as SAS; including at least three years of classroom teaching or corporate training.
Experience in technology areas such as application development, client/server, database management systems, data warehousing, or web enablement preferred.
Experience leading projects preferred
