Job Description

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include formulating and developing strategic campaign plans; framing viable appropriate campaign targets and case support needs; advising on, instigating, communicating through all relevant media about the school, its needs, its projects and is future; promoting and planning events that support community relations and fundraising; leading and managing communication teams, support staff teams and volunteer teams to support projects; advising senior staff on their most effective roles in the projects and training them to carry out the project effectively; and advising ESF and other schools in the Foundation broadly on development issues.

On the priority project, the Director will be responsible for advising on target setting for the campaign; leading the school community to achieve these targets; working with the senior staff team of the school whose project is designated as the current Foundation priority, understanding the direction of the development of the academic programme and the needs for development of the school facilities and buildings; creating and developing positive relationships between the School, the ESF, the Alumni, the Parents and the Community; setting up community volunteer groups to support the development and fundraising activities.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who will possess some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Mature, will possess a good level of gravitas and personal authority and be able to
  • interact at senior levels across the organization
  • Strong relationship, team building, engaging communication skills and a team player
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities, cultures and business practices inherent to an international operation
  • Ability to multi-task, balance multiple priorities in a complex environment, and be
  • flexible, adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Extreme tact and discretion, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence
  • Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly by securing major gifts,
  • successfully managing campaigns, and engaging a community of motivated supporters
  • Working knowledge of development best practices, trends in (independent school)
  • education and development, fundraising tools and technology, including donor databases, e-mail and online campaigns, donor research, solicitation and stewardship
  • Deep appreciation and understanding of ESF and Schoolís mission and the ability to
  • articulate its values and vision internally and externally.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience of increasing responsibility in non-profit fundraising,
  • preferably within an independent school
  • Excellent managerial skills including at least 5 years of previous experience successfully managing development staff
  • Graduate degree preferred
